As the Pittsburgh Steelers get ready to begin their fight to the Super Bowl LI, they are faced with several new challenges. The two biggest challenges on their plate is the loss of Le’Veon Bell and Maratavis Bryant, Bell will be sitting out the first four games and Bryant will be out for the entire season. Both Bryant and Bell have been suspended due to violation of the NFL substance abuse policy.
With the toughest stretch of their season being the first 7 games, having Bell and Bryant out may very well negatively impact their team. The Pittsburgh Steelers with be playing five of last years playoff teams, New England, Kansas City, Cincinnati, Washington and New York Jets. The Steelers will be replacing Bryant with Sammie Coates, who they drafted last year. Bells skills and talents will certainly be missed during this coming season. Steelers will be replacing him with DeAngelo Williams and Fitzgerald Toussaint. Williams proved his abilities last year while filling in for Bell, racking up 11 touchdowns and 907 yards.
Luckily for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the second half of the 2016 season should be a little more pleasant and laid back. They will be going head to head with teams with losing records in 2015, Giants, Browns, Cowboys and Ravens. It is possible for teams to greatly improve from one year to the next. It is expected that the Ravens will be one of the most improved teams this season. Cowboys still have a lot of talent, and with Romo healthy they could bounce back this season
It is a little to early to know how they will play, Just for fun and based on 2015 and known injuries and other factors eliminating players, I predict the Steelers season to look like this:
Game 1@ Redskins: win. Steelers are 1-4 in their last five season openers, but Mike Tomlin is 10-2 on Monday night.
Game 2 vs. Bengals: win. Steelers are 8-1 in home openers under Tomlin.
Game 3 @ Eagles: loss. Steelers haven’t beat Philadelphia since 1965.
Game 4 vs. Chiefs: win. Steelers don’t normally lose two games in a row. vs. Jets: win. Close game
Game 5 @ Dolphins: win. Dolphins have done little in the off season to improve their team.
Game 6 vs. Patriots: loss. Tom Brady still owns the Steelers
Game 7 @ Ravens: win. Ravens won both games last year, it is time for Steelers to get their revenge
Game 8 vs. Cowboys: win. Romos health is still a concern
Game 9 @ Browns: win. Browns are lacking talent this season
Game 10 @ Colts: loss. I expect Luck to bounce back this season.
Game 11 vs. Giants: win. Ben will steal the spotlight from Eli in this game
Game 12 @ Bills: win. Close game, Steelers steal the game in OT
Game 13 @ Bengals: loss. Bengals finally get their revenge.
Game 14 vs. Ravens: win.
Game 15 vs. Browns: win.
Looking to be a 12-4 season for the Steel City Steelers. Could the Pittsburgh Steelers find the playoffs again?
