Chargers sign JC Jackson to monster deal: signing memo

The Los Angeles Chargers pulled off a huge coup by signing superstar cornerback JC Jackson to a mega-deal.

Cornerback JC Jackson knew he would ‘pull the bag’ in free agency and the Los Angeles Chargers just did it in a big way. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chargers and Jackson have reached a five-year deal worth $82.5 million.

That’s a lot of money, but there’s no doubt that Jackson deserves to be paid as one of the best defensive players. According to Schefter, $40 million in Jackson’s new contract will be guaranteed.

Chargers break the bank to sign JC Jackson: signing note

Los Angeles fans are freaking out on Twitter right now and rightly so. Jackson was attracting a lot of interest in free agency, with the Bengals, Jets, 49ers and others looking to try and sign him to a new contract.

Instead, the Chargers were able to win him over and now this team looks set to go all-in to try not just to win the AFC West, but to embark on a deep playoff run. As Justin Herbert prepares to enter the prime of his career, the Chargers know the time is right to make a splash.

With the Broncos also bringing in Russell Wilson, it only made the division stronger. For Wilson, Patrick Mahomes and Derek Carr, they will now have the daunting task of trying to pounce on Jackson twice a year.

Last season, Jackson earned a trip to the Pro Bowl after posting 58 total tackles and eight head-turning interceptions with the Patriots. The previous year, Jackson had recorded nine interceptions. He’ll be ready to bring his peddling gear to the Chargers’ defense. He’s a monster for the team, especially after he’s already traded for Khalil Mack.
