28and In December, HE Mr. MIZUUCHI Ryuta, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, and Mrs. KANEMATSU Yui, Program Coordinator, AAR Meheba Office in Japan, signed a grant contract in the amount of US$461,581 for the implementation of the program titled “Supporting Livelihood Activities through Agriculture in Meheba Local Integration Area (Phase 2)” within the framework of supporting Japanese NGO projects. Hon. Hon. Mr. Jacob Jack Mwiimbu, Minister of Interior, representing Her Honor Mrs. Mutale WK Nalumango, Vice President, attended the signing as guest of honour.

Through this project, AAR Japan will foster 11 self-help groups comprised of 463 households by 1) providing agricultural equipment and household management skills, 2) providing species-rich seedlings and agricultural know-how, and 3) promoting common transportation and expanding sales channels. In addition, in collaboration with Community Road Empowerment (CORE), a Japanese non-profit organization, AAR Japan will work with self-target groups to pave rough roads to the nearby market to facilitate a smooth joint transportation system in the city. community.

This AAR Japan project is expected to revitalize the agricultural activities of the targeted farmers and increase their cash incomes, which will lead to the promotion of their self-reliant livelihoods.
