Contract signing ceremony with the Association for Aid and Relief Japan (AAR Japan) for the grant to aid Japanese NGO projects by the Government of Japan


The 28e December, HE Mr. MIZUUCHI Ryuta, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, and Ms. KANEMATSU Yui, Program Coordinator of the AAR Japan Meheba office, signed a grant contract in the amount of US $ 461,581 for the implementation of the program. titled “Supporting Livelihood Activities through Agriculture in Meheba Local Integration Zone (Phase 2)” as part of Japanese NGO project support. Hon. Hon. Mr. Jacob Jack Mwiimbu, Minister of the Interior, representing Her Honor Ms. Mutale WK Nalumango, Vice-President, attended the signing as guest of honor.

Through this project, AAR Japan will encourage 11 self-help groups made up of 463 households by 1) providing agricultural equipment and household management skills, 2) providing cash-rich seedlings and agricultural know-how, and 3 ) by promoting joint transport and expansion of sales channels. Additionally, in collaboration with Community Road Empowerment (CORE), a Japanese NPO, AAR Japan will work with target groups to open rough roads to the nearby market to facilitate a smooth common transport system in the community.

This AAR Japan project is expected to revitalize the agricultural activities of the targeted farmers and increase their cash income, which will lead to the promotion of their self-reliant livelihoods.
