Derby County ‘eager’ to sign pre-contract as club ‘prepare’ for transfer offers

As the time continues to turn until the winter transfer window, which opens in less than two days on New Years Day, here’s a look at the latest Derby County transfer news.

Cameron’s “Desired” Club

Derby County are keen to sign former Manchester City defender Cameron Humphreys-Grant, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has had a successful stay in Belgium with Zulte Waregem since July 2019.

He has made 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season, providing an assist, for the Belgian side which currently sit 15th in the table.

His performances in Europe, however, have led many league clubs to fight for him to receive a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail.

They report that Humphreys – whose contract expires this summer and is therefore available to sign a pre-contract deal – is a target for Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Cardiff, Coventry and Derby.

Prepared for Buchanan Offerings

Nottingham Forest are said to be set to test Derby County’s resolve again with a fourth offer for left-back Lee Buchanan.

The Rams have resisted offers for the academy graduate over the summer and have reportedly rejected three offers from Forest.

These offers, however, came before the club entered administration, with the search for new owners underway.

According to the sun , Forest is set to rekindle his interest in the defender and ‘line up’ an offer of around £ 1.5million.

It is said that Derby is looking for a price tag in the range of £ 2million but may have to ‘sell’ in the window due to his situation.

Mengi moving?

Derby County can be trusted with loan players.

They have a good strike rate to borrow players from Premier League clubs and develop them.

Matt Clarke has been superb over the past two seasons while Harry Wilson, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori have all become good footballers in their stints at Pride Park.

Rams boss Wayne Rooney used his Manchester United contacts to bring in Teden Mengi last season and he was impressed with the defender, whose time in DE24 was unfortunately cut short due to an injury.

Mengi quickly improved on his first experience of senior football in a tough environment and Rooney spoke highly of the 19-year-old, who was seen as a potential option for new United boss Ralf Rangnick.
