ROSEVILLE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–UFCW 8-Golden State, in coordinated negotiations with UFCW Locals 5 and 648, is pleased to announce that we have reached an interim contract agreement covering the Safeway and Vons locations in Northern California and in the bay area.
“This agreement provides meaningful wage increases that recognize the dedication and commitment our members have shown in keeping their stores operational and providing services to their community throughout the pandemic,” the UFCW president said. 8-Golden State, Jacques Loveall.
The new agreement also includes enhancements to non-premium medical benefits for member coverage, adjustments to improve salary progressions and the creation of a Supplemental Lifetime Income Security Accumulation Account (LISA) retirement plan. for current and future members.
The 16,000 affected union members from the three locals will have the opportunity to review the details of the agreement before it is ratified. UFCW 8-Golden State members will receive mail-in ballots and ratification details explaining the tentative agreement in the coming weeks.
The unions and the company have agreed not to release full details of the tentative agreement until members have had an opportunity to review and ratify it.
