Barcelona have been given a huge boost in their bid to keep young star Gavi.
The Blaugrana have been locked in contract talks with the 17-year-old for some time but Gavi have remained resistant until it comes to light, wanting to be paid what it’s worth.
The midfielder is already a key player for club and country, and he is yet to reach his 18th birthday.
Because of this, he held on and he doesn’t owe Barcelona as much as many youngsters might, not going through the club’s La Masia academy system.
Gavi is out of contract in 2023, and it is feared he will have to be sold this season if Barca fail to agree a new deal.

It is reported that Gavi will sign a slightly lower deal than Ronald Araujo but only to help Barca complete the deal amid financial troubles.
He will do so on the condition that Barca review the salary again in the coming months to bring it up to Araujo’s level, something Gavi has demanded from the start.
