RANGERS Football Club is today delighted to announce the signing of John Souttar on a pre-contract deal with Heart of Midlothian.
Centre-back Souttar, 25, is a Scotland international in his own right. He started and scored in Scotland’s last game, where they beat Denmark at Hampden.
He started his career at Dundee United and was their youngest player when he made his debut in a 2-2 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie aged just 16 years and 99 days. In all, he made 73 appearances for Tangerines, before leaving for Hearts in the January 2016 transfer window.
He has since made 148 appearances for the Tynecastle club and scored five goals. His superb form this season earned him a recall to the Scotland squad, and he earned his fourth cap in the win over the Danes at the end of last year.
Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson commented“We are really looking forward to John joining Rangers and continuing his development under Gio, our coaching and support team.
“John is a Scotland international in his own right and has so much potential for the years to come. I have really enjoyed getting to know John through all of our conversations so far and I can see how delighted he and his family are. to join Rangers. We are also delighted to welcome John to Ibrox.
