RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose has called Christopher Nkunku’s pre-contract deal at Chelsea “speculation”.
chelsea had a record summer transfer, but are still looking to secure further additions in future windows.
The new ownership team, led by Todd Boehlywish to strengthen and develop what they already have at Stamford Bridge.
Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were the big name signings who arrived in a window where over £250million was spent.
The Blues also dealt with RB Leipzig in the summer, with Timo Werner returning to a permanent contract with his former club, but are now keen to acquire some.
Chelsea are ready to make a move for Josko Gvardiol, a 20-year-old Croatian defender.
On top of that, a major change has been made for Frenchman Nkunku with the Blues. conclude a preliminary contract before next summer.
The striker signed a new contract extension with Leipzig in June until 2026, but that hasn’t deterred interest.
Nkunku has a €60m release clause which kicks in next summer and many clubs are hoping to secure his signature.
He has been linked with clubs such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United and his former club Paris-Saint Germain.
At 24, Nkunku was one of the best players in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 20 goals and providing 13 assists. This season, he has already scored a total of six goals.
Chelsea are keen to add that kind of firepower to their side and while Leipzig are keen to retain it, it seems unlikely.
“It’s speculation, we don’t comment on it,” he said: “We don’t care, we don’t care.”
Should Chelsea make a move for Nkunku, he could significantly boost the Blues’ attacking output.
