Sam Gallagher sends message to Blackburn fans over new contract deal

Sam Gallagher signed a contract extension at Blackburn Rovers to keep it in Ewood Park at least until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

With a lot of uncertainty surrounding the other players on the squad whose contracts expire this summer, it was important to tie up the 26-year-old who has been a consistent player for Rovers over the past few seasons.

Adam Armstrong and Ben Brereton Diaz have made headlines for the past two seasons, but Gallagher’s contributions have been invaluable, setting the tone in the final third with his physique and adding goals and assists to the attacking contingent.

The Plymouth Argyle Academy graduate took to Instagram share your emotions with the news with the fans.

Gallagher wrote: “Delighted to start 2022 by extending my time to @rovers.

It has been a great season so far and certainly an exciting time to be a part of this football club. Thanks for all the support so far! I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Gallagher has scored ten or more direct goals in each of his previous two seasons at Ewood Park and is eight after just 16 league appearances this quarter.

The versatile forward has been one of Blackburn’s unsung heroes this season and fully deserves a new contract.

The verdict

Gallagher being linked with a new deal that’s good, but there are other pressing issues at the club in terms of contracts.

Thomas Kaminski, Darragh Lenihan, Joe Rothwell, Ryan Nyambe and Ben Brereton Diaz are all out of contract this summer as is.

The situation will have many clubs around a possible case in the summer transfer window or even this month and needs to be addressed to reassure fans.

In the meantime, Tony Mowbray does an exceptional job managing the club and has appeared to improve every player on his squad at some point this season.

There has been more speculation about Rothwell and Brereton Diaz than the other three, but if this latter trio can be linked anyway this month it would give the club a huge boost to look past the end. of the current campaign.
