Signing of the contract for the redevelopment of Elmore Stoutt High School

The government of the Virgin Islands, through the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA), will sign two contracts tomorrow for the redevelopment of the Elmore Stoutt High School campus.

The project launch and contract signing ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 2 at the school campus and will include the signing of a contract with Trojan Design & Development Limited for ‘design consultancy services’ of a value of $ 99,480 USD, while the other contract will be signed with Sand Wise Limited for “Demolition and Debris Works Clearance” valued at $ 136,079.50 USD.

Following the 2017 hurricanes, significant damage to infrastructure and utilities was caused to classrooms at Elmore Stoutt High School. This resulted in the relocation of students and staff to temporary accommodation across Tortola, as the government worked to both rehabilitate and modernize campus infrastructure.

The college students are back on campus and are accommodated in the L. Adorothy Turnbull building which has been rehabilitated. The government of the Virgin Islands is also prioritizing the timely opening of a suitable space that will be available to accommodate the students of the Old CTL building at the start of the new school year before the end of the lease in March 2022.

The public is invited to tune in to watch the contract signing ceremony live on Facebook @BVIGovernment.

The Recovery and Development Agency was established in April 2018 to work with the government of the Virgin Islands, the private sector, the public and civil society to best meet the urgent needs of the territory following the natural disasters that occurred in 2017.
